Do join us as we participate in an interactive session with Dr. Uma Jain who based on her recently published book `Life Journeys of Single Women’ of women from across the globe including her own, will speak about some common themes and patterns in the lives of single women across cultures. She will share some of the prevailing myths and assumptions made about single women to provide a deeper insight into the rising phenomenon of singlehood amongst women and for building data-based hypotheses about single women's lives on various dimensions. Using her data from the life journeys of single women from India, USA and UK, she will also reveal how singlehood is an outcome of the complex interplay between individual preferences and conscious and unconscious societal processes, particularly gender and patriarchy. She will elucidate what the journeys of single women have to say about making society more equitable and inclusive, utilizing the full potential of the diverse identities of people. 

About Uma Jain  

 Uma Jain is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and has been a teacher of organizational behaviour at Management Institutes, a corporate Human manager, an internal and external Organization Development consultant, and an organizational leader over the last four decades. She has trained and consulted in varied areas of Organization Development, Values and Culture Building, Leadership, Group Dynamics, and Diversity & Inclusion, widely in India and other countries, including USA, Dubai, Austria, Singapore, and Mauritius. Uma has made significant contributions to the field of Applied Behavioural Science nationally and internationally in her various institutional roles and through her writings. Her passion for building a world more sensitive to diversity and gender issues has led to her most recent book: Demystifying and Dignifying Singlehood: Life Journeys of Single Women Across The Globe (2023)
